If you love pets but are not ready to adopt, opening your home as a foster is a great way to help out!
Here’s how it works:
You provide a temporary place for the animal to live, plus water, exercise, and lots of love. CHS will provide you with food, supplies, veterinary care, and any guidance you may need.
We are in need of foster homes for kittens, puppies under 8 weeks old. To remain in the shelter, puppies and kittens need to be certain age. For that reason, we are in need of “moms” willing to care for babies until they are 8 weeks old. Depending on their age and health, babies could need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for up to three months.
Fostering is flexible enough for most lifestyles and CHS will best match the animal to the foster home. By offering your time, energy and home to an animal in need, you prepare the animal for adoption into a permanent home.
We can only help as many animals as we have space for. Having foster homes helps us help more animals. It also provides them with better socialization skills, which makes them a more well-adjusted pet. In addition, foster parents learn about the pet’s personality, likes, and dislikes so that he/she can be better matched to the right forever home. Most importantly, pet foster parents save lives!
The CHS foster program is easy to be a part of and we will provide you with all the support you need. If you and your family are interested in helping, please contact us at (517) 787-7387 for more details.
