Goldie
Goldie is um, a wee bit overweight. But what a love he is!
Sadly, he spent the first part of his life on a chain. Can you imagine your whole world being defined by the length of the chain you’re on? Both extreme heat and cold become your enemies. There is no escape…and often this can mean inconsistent delivery of food and even water. So, there’s that. Add to the rest of your misery hunger and thirst.
Dogs are such social animals. When they are kept apart from other animals and people it changes them. They often shut down emotionally. Sometimes the greatest cruelty that can be visited on an animal is indifference.
Since his days on a chain, Goldie has learned to be a house dog, but we’re looking for an experienced dog owner to adopt him. He is just shy of 5 years old, housebroken, neutered, up-to-date on his shots, microchipped and tested negative for Heartworm. If there are kids in the home they should probably be at least age five. He shows a strong prey drive, so no cats for this boy. He can be picky about his dog friends and seems to do better with females. It’s really funny that, due to his being overweight and a Pit Bull mix, some people see him as fearsome. The reality is Goldie is a big, lovable mush!
We think every animal deserves a wonderful, loving home! However, animals that have experienced so much pain at he hands of some humans. Well, maybe they deserve just a teeny bit more? Deuce
We’re looking for that one unsung hero. Why?
So we can sing his or her praises when they adopt everyone’s favorite cat—Deuce.
need special care for the rest of his life.
What’s so special about Deuce? His amazing, loving, entertaining personality which survived what can only be called a tough beginning road in life. We don’t have much information about his history. We do know he is one great cat. He’s 7+ years old. He’s neutered and up-to-date on shots. You have to visit with this boy to see what we mean. It’s a love and kisses thing. He steal’s everyone’s heart—every time.
Deuce is FeLV+. He seems fine right now and is doing very well. What adopting Deuce probably means in the future: greater attention to his health risks, so more trips to the vet; he can never go outside; he must be the only cat in the home; his longevity will, most likely, be shortened due to this virus. Deuce also has a cauliflower ear, which will need regular attention to prevent ongoing infections. Cauliflower ear is caused by previously untreated ear infections that have damaged the ear.
On the positive side, it means sharing your home and your heart with one of the great cats of the world—really. We promise you will “get” more than you “give” to Deuce.
FeLV in cats is complicated. The virus does affect the cat’s immune system and his ability to fight off disease. Cats with this virus must be kept indoors and away from other cats. The virus does not cross species, so it is not possible for people or other species to get the disease.
