Paw Playground is Getting a Facelift!
We are so excited to announce that Cascades Humane Society’s off-leash dog park is undergoing some renovations! Paw Playground is just over an acre and features two fenced spaces, one for large dogs, and the other for small dogs. It is free to use and open 365 days a year from dawn until dusk.
We are removing all the peastone and replacing it with grass. In addition to seeding the playground, we will be adding new equipment and toys for your pooches to play on. We have even added an irrigation system to rinse the grass every evening to keep it fresh and alive. Please bear with us as we do expect these improvements to take several weeks. But once they are complete, you and your canine companion can enjoy running freely with grass under your feet!
As of July 16, 2021:
- 1,000 yards of peastone has been removed
- Topsoil has been spread out over all surfaces
- A new irrigation system has been installed
- Difficult to maintain bushes and trees have been removed or trimmed
- Doggie water stations have been installed
- Old, broken pumps and cement stands have been removed
- Large rocks have been removed and placed elsewhere on the grounds
and…
Grass seed has gone in!
We are grateful to Mark Konopacki from M&K Jetting for his help in getting the improvements off the ground. Brother’s Landscaping is doing the work for us, and, just as the landscaping renovations we made last year around the main building, we think they are doing an amazing job!
We are so excited that we are planning a grand re-opening event in mid-August, so keep checking for updates on the exact date and time.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience as we these much needed improvements! You can follow along with the progress with the pictures below.
