Paws in the Park 2019

Thank you to all who walked, ran the 5k, came to the event, or donated! We reached our goal! We will see you next year, June 6th, 2020 – Mark your calendars!

Schedule of Events

9am- 5k run/walk begins
9am- venders, games and activities open!
9:40am- welcome remarks and photos
10am- 1.3 mile walk begins
10am- 1st splash at Ultimate Air Dogs
10:45am- dog costume competition
11am- blessing of the animals
11am- 1st of 3 performances by the Detroit Circus
11:30pm- 2nd splash at Ultimate Air Dogs
12pm- 2nd of 3 performances by the Detroit Circus
12:30pm- police dog demonstration
1pm- 3rd of 3 performances by the Detroit Circus
1pm- Final splash at Ultimate Air Dogs
1:30- 50-50 raffle drawing (do not need to be present to win)

New this year! Ultimate Air Dogs!

Ultimate Air Dogs put on professional events that draw in thousand of spectators while maintaining a family friendly atmosphere. Their shows become the main draw of every festival or show in which they are featured! From the smallest jumper to the biggest Ultimate high flyer, all breeds (mix or purebred) any size (Yorkies to Great Danes) are encouraged… as long as they can swim! But don’t take our word for it! New this year! Lure Racing Competition! Is your dog up for the Chase?

Ever try your dog at lure racing? Lure racing is a fun activity that we have every year at Paws in the Park, but this year we are making it a competition! That’s right! We are CHALLENGING YOU to see if your dog has what it takes to chase the lure!!

Lure racing is a sport for dogs that involves chasing a mechanically operated lure. This activity is open to any dog (all breeds of any size and any age). Successfully complete 3 chases and win an official Cascades Humane Society Lure Chasing Champion Certificate! We will also be timing the event! There will be three classes of dogs in competition to earn the fastest time! The winner in each class (small, medium, large) will earn a certificate and a special goodie bag!

Paws in the Park Traditional Walk-a-Thon Information

We have a lot of new things happening at Paws in the Park 2019, which is really exciting! However, we will still have our tried and true traditional 1.3 mile walk though the park. Registration is just $25 for adults and $15 for kids when you register before May 19th. After May 19th and through May 31st, registration is $30 for adults and $20 for kids. Day of registration will be $35 for adults and $20 for kids. PLUS you get a FREE Paws in the Park T-Shirt in your size! The walk, led by our Leader of the Pack, ZuZu, will begin at 10am. We hope everyone will stay and enjoy the rest of the festivities. Strollers and dogs are welcome!

Paws in the Park 5k run/walk Information

Paws in the Park is one of Cascades Humane Society’s largest fundraisers of the year, and this year CHS is adding a 5k run/walk through the charming Sparks Foundation Park (aka Cascades Falls Park)! Registration is just $25 when you register before May 1st. After May 1st, registration is $30 through May 31st, and $35 the day of the race. Leashed dogs are welcome to attend and participate in the event. Want to come out and walk, but 5k is a little too long? Don’t worry! We are still offering the traditional 1.3 mile walk-a-thon at 10am!

Early Packet Pick Up with be on Friday May 31st, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at CHS 1515 Carmen Dr., Jackson, MI 49202.
Packet Pick Up and Race Day Registration starts at 8:00am. The race begins at 9:00am.

Awards

Awards for top 3 in each age group will be awarded, male and female. We will also be celebrating our canine participants, top dog awards will be given to the first 3 dogs to cross the finish line!

Timing

The race will be chip timed by the Michigan Running Foundation.

Carnival Activities!

In addition to the walk, run, air dogs and lure chasing, we will still have all the Carnival Fun that we have had in years past. The Detroit Circus, acrobats and aerial performers, will be on hand for 3 FREE shows. We will have carnival games, balloon twisting and face painting for various ticket amounts.

Tickets for some of the carnival activities will be available for purchase the day of the event. Ticket prices are: $1/ticket or 20 tickets for $15 and 40 tickets for $25.

Doggie Costume Competition!

Dress your pooch up and enter them into the doggie costume competition at 10:45am in the Main Stage! For just one ticket per dog entered, you have the chance of wining the prize! Judges will narrow the field down to three competitors, and then the audience will pick their favorite.

Fundraise for CHS!
